La Dispersion du Fils (2009)

Immersive stereoscopic artwork utilising 22,000 video sequences from more than 500 movies filmed by artist Jean Michel Bruyère

La Dispersion du Fils

La Dispersion du Fils is an immersive, stereoscopic artwork that draws on more than 22,000 video sequences from more than 500 movies filmed between 1999 and 2007 by artist Jean Michel Bruyère. The video sequences line the sides of an amorphous, shifting, three-dimensional shape whose properties are dynamic and algorithmically generated.

Matthew McGinity led the software development effort. I worked with Matthew on an early prototype of the artwork, programming the physics-based animated sequences.

The work has been exhibited in multiple locations across Europe and Asia between 2009 and 2018.
