Interactive typographical designs inspired by Moby-Dick
Altered Moby-Dick is a work by Kate Sweetapple, Gemma Warriner, Kristelle De Freitas and Jacquie Lorber-Kasunic. It explores the structural and lexical qualities of Herman Melville’s 1851 book Moby-Dick: The Whale.
As part of the early conceptualisation process, I developed a series of real-time interactive typographical experiments using Processing.
I also provided the artists with software engineering support using natural language processing techniques to generate the extracts from the book in a format that could be used as input to the design tools used to create the work.
